Racing

I don’t think I’ve talked about my summer races.

July 4th: Macklind Mile – Downhill mile race
July 31st: XC kickoff – 5k cross country race

So as you can see I have a race coming up this sunday. Exciting? Obviously. I absolutely LOVE racing! It’s what all the training is for, to be a better racer. I really have no idea what time I’ll get for my mile but I hope it’s better than 6:12 which is my PR as of now.

Guest Post

So I’ve been asked to write a guest post and I really have no idea what to write about.

Q: What would you like to see me write about in a guest post?

Cameras

I really want to get a new camera that produces amazing photos for the blog. However I have no idea what kind of camera to get. So I’m going to ask you all for advice!

Q: What’s a good camera to have for blogging purposes and getting a nice clear and crisp, very detailed photo?

Q: What kind of camera do you have/use?

My camera sucks so I will not recommend it. It is a Kodak something.

Lol who would ask you to write a guest post? What are they thinking? 😉

I know we already talked about this a little, but apparently I can’t shut up today. haha! Are you thinking more of a point and shoot or a fancy DSLR? I really like my Fujifim Finepix F20, but it’s a year or two old so I know there are smaller and lighter P&S cameras out there. CNET is a really great place to check for reviews! And if you decide you want to invest in a DSLR I’d suggest visiting a camera store and talking to them and then you could buy it from there or take that info and find what you need on Amazon (possibly for less).
Personally, I’d say get a point and shoot so you can bring it with you everywhere! Canon has some really nice ones and they’re tiny and of course they come in cute colors!

I’ve heard good things about the Canon Powershots! I definitely agree that the DSLRs are suuuuper pricey. Or really, its the LENSES that add up…the body of the camera can sometimes be decently priced. But yeah, I’d suggest checking around CNET to see what they recommend, I always check their reviews before I buy anything like this. I think too that there’s a lot more photoshopping going on out there than most people realize so we’re all expecting our pictures to ‘pop’ off the screen and then it’s disappointing when they don’t! That can be fixed (or adjusted, I guess is a better term) with PS actions, but a) Photoshop is $$$ and b) so are the action packages! (The Pioneer Woman has 2 great sets for free though!)
So anyway, you can definitely get great photographs with point and shoot cameras! And I’d suggest going to Best Buy or a camera store just so you can play around with the different ones too!

Haha I do the same thing with researching! I totally feel you on Photoshop, too. Now that I’m used to it though, I can process 30 pictures in about 15 minutes so it doesn’t take TOO long…but it’s definitely not as easy as plug it in, upload & bam! you’re done. It can be as easy or as complex as you want to deal with though, so it’s all flexible! Also, you could always set your camera to ‘vivid’ mode, a lot of them have it and I think it just ups the contrast some, but it can look really nice.

    Awesome run!

I am asking for a Canon Rebel XS 10.1 MP camera for my birthday. We’ll see if I get it! I use a Canon Point and Shoot right now and it’s good, but I want a nicer camera…it’s getting old and falling apart!!

Guest post…hmmm. A favorite childhood recipe?
